We asked about the issues that worry you, and we’ve listened to your answers. As a result, we believe these are the four biggest crime challenges facing Northamptonshire today.
We understand these issues are complex. But over the next three years, we’re committed to making them our priority. We will invest extra resources. We will create fresh approaches. And we will work closely with all our communities to make the most positive difference we can.
Chief Constable Nick Adderley: Matters of Priority
Last year was a really successful year for Northamptonshire Police, achieving 23 of the 24 strategic objectives that we had set in conjunction with you, the public. Over the next three years, we set our new matters of priority, and there are four key areas with one overarching matter of priority.
The first area that we'll be looking at is drug harm. You, the public, have told us that you are sick of seeing open drug dealing, and you want us to deal more robustly with those offenders that are actually coming into our communities and peddling their wares.
The next area that we're going to be looking at is serious and organised crime. This is dealing with modern day slavery, human trafficking, cyber crime, and fraud. Again, matters that you, the public, have told us are important to you.
The next matter of priority is around serious violence. We have to reduce knife crime, homicide, and again working with our partners and you, the public, we will make sure that we achieve just that.
The next area that we're going to be looking at is violence against women and girls. Everybody has the right to feel safe, no matter where they are, whether that's the night time economy or in their home. So we will be dealing more robustly with violence against women and girls.
Overarching all of this is making sure that we're protecting the most vulnerable within our communities. Together, with you, we will make Northamptonshire county even safer over the next three years.
