This route into policing is the most direct route and is known as the Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP). There is no degree requirement in the entry route.
Officers start their role on a highly competitive salary of £28,551 per annum and can rise to £46,044. But that’s not all. This is a job like no other, where no two days are the same. You are pushed to become the best but rewarded with the satisfaction that you are helping people at their lowest point and seeking to get them justice.
You will develop skills that help you prevent crime and where it does happen, you will be responsible for catching criminals. Working as part of a wider team – known as the police family – you will receive some of the best police training in the world.
At the end of a successful two-year period – known as the probationary period - your appointment in the office of police constable will be confirmed.
Our recruitment window for applications to the Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP) entry route is now closed.
