For anyone who already has a degree in any subject, they can start on this structured two year programme, on a salary of £24,780 per annum and can rise to £41,130. This is known as the degree holder entry programme (DHEP).
During this period you will undertake a variety of learning and development activities, to equip and prepare you for the role of police constable.
The programme involves formal learning inputs and practical activities, alongside self-directed learning that seek to build on the existing graduate learning skills student officers should already have acquired.
As part of the DHEP student officers will be coached and assessed in the workplace to develop the operational competence as a police officer. This workplace assessment will include an initial period - typically 10 weeks - where they will be assessed and supported by an allocated tutor to prepare them for patrol independently.
At the successful conclusion of the programme student officers will be awarded a Level 6 Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice
