This area has an overview of all people, process and technology and ensures the department’s digital priorities are focused on delivering the corporate objectives and the long-term roadmap. It also governs design processes and looks for opportunities to rationalise and standardise.
The team is made up of Data, Security and Cloud and Infrastructure Architects.
Their job is to understand the needs of the organisations and translate this into a technology roadmap that is delivered as part of a large portfolio of projects.
There are national and local, digital strategies. This team looks at those strategies to examine what we currently have, what we need to update, and what we need to develop to ensure we meet what is expected on the digital front.
This team also provides a layer of technical governance around projects to ensure designs for new systems and services take into account the needs of the whole organisation and that any new systems will work alongside our existing technology.
A key aspect of this is trying to reduce the number of systems we run and leverage as much as possible from the infrastructure we already have.
There are some really exciting projects on the horizon, such as the move of more services into the cloud and the development of new ways of working with platforms such as Office 365.
