Officers from Northamptonshire Police’s Rural Crime Team have successfully recovered stolen vehicles and equipment thanks to an after-market security device installed by the owners.
Following a recent theft, intelligence led officers towards a local site in Braybrooke in which a significant number of trailers and equipment were recovered and subsequently identified as stolen from various police force areas.
The recovered items included an Ifor Williams cattle trailer, SMH welfare trailer, Swift Archway caravan, a VW car and an amount of horse tac, which are in the process of being reunited to the rightful owners.
PC Chris Bartovsky of the Rural Crime Team said: “I am pleased that we managed to recover the property and reunite it with the rightful owners thanks to the support of partner agencies and assistance from the local community.
“This outcome demonstrates the importance of after-market security measures such as tracking devices, kit marking and correct registration of this equipment to not only prevent thefts but to aid the return of recovered property when stolen.
“We are really passionate about tackling rural crime and I hope the quick action taken in this case demonstrates that fact.”
