The family of a Kettering woman who died in a collision on the A43 have paid tribute to her as a devoted mum, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Carol Ann Broughton, aged 69, died on August 8 when her silver Skoda Roomster car was in collision with another car on the A43 near Bulwick. The male driver of the second vehicle also sadly died.
Carol’s family have now released a photograph and tribute to her via Northamptonshire Police.
“We are devastated to have lost Carol. Such a big part of all our lives has gone and we miss her terribly.
“She was dedicated to her family and would make sure she was involved in everything she could be, inviting herself along if she needed to!
“Mum was the life and soul, you knew it would be a good day if she was there. She loved being the centre of attention and cracking jokes, even if they were terrible. She was at her funniest when she wasn’t trying to be funny, she was a little bit crazy in the best way.
“Mum loved going on holiday, and the simple pleasures of life – time with her family, and a good cup of tea.
“She worked at Morrisons for many years and had lots of colleagues and customers who got to know her well.
“Mum was everybody’s friend. She was such a positive woman, and I feel very fortunate to have had her in my life, to have had her as my mum.
“She gave us absolutely everything that she could, she just got on with things and dedicated her life to making sure that the whole family was OK and looked after.
“If we needed any support of any kind, you only needed to pick up the phone. She was so reliable.
“She was a fantastic mum, aunty, great-aunty, nanny and great-grandma. She so loved all the children in our family and was such a massive supporter and part of their lives.
“That’s what hurts the most, that they have to live without her love and care, and that the baby in the family will never get to see what a wonderful woman she was.
“We are so proud of mum, of her strength. She dealt with so much in her life and despite all the challenges she kept going.
“Mum had re-met her first love after many years, and 18 months after that they were planning their wedding. He had always said there would never be anyone else for him but her, and there never was, he waited for her, and their happiness together was so special.
“After they had married, mum was enjoying all the things she had never been able to before. Her life had worked out just as she had wanted it to after going through some really tough times.
“When I picture mum, she is smiling. She will be missed by so many people. She has left such a massive hole for all of us, nothing will ever be able to fill it.
“To have had a wonderful mum like that was a blessing and for that I will always be grateful.”
