The Force’s Digital Evidence Detection dog - PD Rosie, is celebrating her 100th deployment at Northamptonshire Police.
Our “digi-dog” for short, PD Rosie’s capabilities are extensive and alongside her handler, PC Sam Clark, she is trained to search for devices containing memory and storage including USB sticks, SD Cards, digital cameras, Go Pro and head mounted cameras, hard drives, sim cards, laptops/tablets, mobile phones, car keys fobs, sat navs and even cryptocurrency.
Her skills continue to secure good results for the Force including finding vital digital evidence which could otherwise have remained undiscovered, helping to bring offenders to justice, securing convictions in court, and offering reassurance for victims of crime.
Some of Rosie’s good results include:
All of the above were key pieces of evidence for their respective investigations that would not have been located without PD Rosie’s nose!
Comments from officers who have used PD Rosie as part of their investigations include:
“I’ve worked with PD Rosie and her handler in relation to domestic abuse cases of stalking. It was amazing to see how well-trained PD Rosie was, and how excited she was to put her skills to work.”
“Sam and her Digi Dog Rosie have been an asset to our department on more than one occasion. They are both always eager to help out and have even come out very short notice and on a rest day!! Rosie’s ability to search for devices is absolutely incredible and has assisted us in getting a number of prosecutions and even remands to prison by locating devices in obscure places that we may not have been able to find.”
PD Rosie’s handler PC Sam Clark said: “Working with PD Rosie is a joy and a privilege. She’s so switched-on, intuitive and a great crew mate.
“It’s amazing to see her reach her 100th deployment and to know how many people she’s helped and how many criminals are behind bars because of her work.
“I’m really proud of her and look forward to the our next 100 deployments together!”
