Work to reduce crime and improve officer visibility in Northampton town centre is continuing to bring arrests and good results.
Operation Workforce is being run by the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) to tackle the four key crime types of anti-social behaviour, retail crime, drugs and serious violence, in the newly revamped Market Square area.
Last week’s focus was on drug-related offending, with officers making five arrests and three stop searches, as well as using a community protection warning to help prevent problem behaviour.
Partnership work is also continuing, to ensure anyone who is identified as being vulnerable or in need of support is signposted or referred to the best place to get help.
NPT Inspector Nicola Davis-Lyons said: “We’re now well into the swing of Operation Workforce and the results, partnership working and feedback all remain really positive.
“By tailoring our operation to specifically tackle the issues residents, businesses and shoppers told us mattered most to them, we’re helping to ensure the beautifully regenerated Market Square area remains somewhere people can feel safe in and proud of.”
