Work to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) is in the spotlight this week as Northamptonshire Police joins partners in supporting a national annual campaign.
Starting today, ASB Awareness Week (November 18-24) encourages communities to take a stand against ASB and highlights the actions that those experiencing it can take.
As well as targeted patrols in key areas and urging people to report ASB, the Force is joining partners across the county at events to share help and advice as well as improve community spaces, tying in with the week’s theme of making communities safer.
ASB Sergeant Wyn Hughes said: “Anti-social behaviour can affect anyone, and we don’t underestimate the negative impact it can have on individuals and communities.
“We work to tackle ASB issues all year round, and ASB Awareness Week is a great opportunity to come together with our partners to really shout about the help and support available.
“No-one should suffer alone or live in fear because of ASB, so if you’re affected, or know someone who is, please report it to police or your local council so we can take action together to help you.”
Events taking place during ASB Awareness Week include Beat Bus visits and ASB partnership patrols at locations across Northampton and Towcester, police surgery events offering advice and support and a community litter-pick event at Briar Hill Community Centre from 10am-4pm on Sunday, November 24.
Throughout the week the Force will also be sharing information and advice about ASB on its website and social media channels - search for the hashtags #ASBAwarenessWeek and #MakingCommunitiesSafer.
