An appeal to raise money for PC Jack Watts - a Northamptonshire Police officer who has been diagnosed with brain cancer - is aiming to get him back to Germany for another round of treatment.
The Roads Policing Team officer has stage four brain cancer and as there are no treatment options currently available on the NHS, Jack's family, friends and colleagues are fundraising to help him continue undergoing treatment abroad.
Although more than £143,000 has been raised, each trip to the Hallwang Clinic in Dornstetten has cost about £26,000, and has depleted the funds that had been raised.
Jack's friends and family have raised the target to £200,000 in order to help raise more money to allow Jack to continue his treatment in the hopes that he can meet his unborn child in the new year.
Though the journey Jack currently finds himself on is exceptionally difficult, he has recently received one piece of amazing news – his partner Charlotte is pregnant with their first child.
Jack said: "I can't thank everyone enough for all their support through the last eight months. Charlotte Patch and Ben Hanger as well as my family and so many others have been fantastic and so supportive.
"This has been such an awful time, but I remain positive and optimistic and it would be amazing to raise as much money as possible to continue the treatment and spend time with family and friends.
"Me and Charlotte are beyond excited to meet our little boy in April and can't thank everyone enough for their ongoing support."
Inspector Colin Newport said: "Jack is exactly the type of man you want to join the police service – he's diligent, hardworking and always does the right thing. He's also a lovely guy and so many people have nice things to say about him.
"We really want to raise as much money as possible for Jack so he can continue his treatment abroad and continue looking forward to meeting his first child next year."
