With burglaries historically rising in the winter months, the North Northants neighbourhood teams will be out in the beat bus this week holding crime prevention sessions in Wellingborough and East Northants.
Starting on Monday, January 10, at the Pemberton Square in Rushden, officers will be visiting areas with high footfalls and engaging with the local communities there in order to arm residents with the best crime prevention advice against burglary.
The sessions will take place at the following locations and will involve officers providing advice, listening to any concerns, and handing out a number of crime prevention items that will help to make your homes more secure.
Monday, January 10, between 10am & 2pm – The Pemberton Centre in Rushden
Tuesday, January 11, between 10am & 2pm – Market Square in Wellingborough

Saturday, January 15, between 10am & 2pm – Asda in Rushden
Sunday, January 16, between 10am & 2pm – Morrisons in Oxford Street, Wellingborough
Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Chris Stevens, said: “As has been said before, the only cause of burglaries is burglars and in an ideal world we would not have to give people crime prevention advice.
“However, the sad fact is that there are people out there who will look to break into your home in order to steal your hard-earned possessions and so this roadshow will be about engaging with our residents and offering them advice and tips on how to give themselves the best chance of not becoming a victim of burglary.
“The truth is – burglars often don’t want to work too hard. They look for easy targets and often, by putting some small crime prevention measures in place, this can deter them from burgling your property.
“I would encourage everyone to come along to one of our roadshows this week and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have. We are really keen to hear what you have to say and look forward to seeing you.”
