A 38-year-old man appeared before Northampton Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, May 18), charged with harassing the MP for Wellingborough & Rushden.
Matthew Gorton, of Paling Close, Wellingborough, is charged with one count of harassment – put in fear of violence, following his arrest on Friday, May 15, for allegedly sending malicious communications to MP Gen Kitchen.
He also faces three further charges - two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker and one count of possession of a controlled Class B drug – namely cannabis.
Gorton was remanded into custody until his next appearance which will be at Northampton Crown Court on June 29.
