A 37-year-old man has been jailed for nearly four years after he pleaded guilty to importing cannabis into the UK.
In 2025, Northamptonshire Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Team received intelligence that, between January and June, Sam Medlin, previously of Burns Road, Wellingborough, was facilitating the importation of a large quantity of cannabis into the UK from the USA.
Subsequent enquiries made with Border Force showed that Medlin was responsible for packages seized upon entry into the country in December 2020, March 2022 and October 2023.
He was arrested at Stansted Airport on November 17 and charged with importation of cannabis in early 2026.
After pleading guilty to the offence at Northampton Crown Court in April, Medlin returned to the same court earlier this month (June 1) where he was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.
Lead investigator - DC James Roe from the Serious and Organised Crime Team, said: “Tackling drug harm is a priority for Northamptonshire Police and this sentence sends a clear message that we will relentlessly target those who profit from supplying drugs in our area.
“I hope this result reassures our communities in Northamptonshire and I want to be clear that we will continue to take decisive action to disrupt further harm.”
