A 64-year-old man convicted of exposing himself at Northampton Train Station has been jailed for 20 weeks and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for seven years.
Kevin Lovell was charged with one count of exposure under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 after travelling from London to the station in Black Lion Hill on August 31, 2025.
In the early hours, Lovell targeted a lone woman as she sat on a platform waiting for her train home - exposing himself while inappropriately touching himself as he walked towards her.
The woman fled to the disabled toilets, but Lovell followed her and banged on the door, before a security officer intervened and led him away. However, Lovell returned to the platform and made the woman her feel uncomfortable as he attempted to engage with her.
When the security officer stepped in again, Lovell became aggressive towards them, however the police had been called, and he was swiftly arrested.
On Monday, February 9, at Northampton Crown Court, Lovell, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to one count of exposure and was sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
Detective Constable Zach Boynton, of CID West, who led the investigation said: “I would like to thank the victim for her willingness to support the court case which secured Kevin Lovell’s conviction.
“Exposure reports like this are always taken very seriously by the police, as we’re aware of the potential for suspects to escalate their offending and I hope this case demonstrates the real and lasting repercussions for those who choose to behave in this way.”
Northamptonshire Police is committed to tackling all forms of sexual offending and we take reports of this nature very seriously.
