Teenage drug dealer jailed following execution of warrant

A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 months in a Young Offenders Institution after pleading guilty to supplying Class A drugs in Northampton.

Jayden Hill was arrested after the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in St Michael’s Road in the town on April 25, this year.

After seizing mobile phones and cash, officers then searched Hill, who had 81 individual deal wraps of suspected Class A drugs concealed within his clothing, which tested positive as crack cocaine and heroin.

Hill, of no fixed address, was subsequently charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and the following day (April 26), pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court.

His case was committed to Northampton Crown Court for sentencing and last month (July 22) he appeared before a judge who ordered him to serve 30 months imprisonment at a Young Offenders Institution.

Lead investigator, Development Detective Sergeant Tara Withers of the West CID team, said: “This warrant was executed as the result of intelligence and reports from members of the public who were concerned about the drug-related activities taking place at this address.

“Drug harm remains a priority for the Force, and we will continue to relentlessly enforce and disrupt dealers, who prey on the most vulnerable people in our society and bring misery to our streets and communities.

“I am pleased with the sentence handed to Jayden Hill, and hope this encourages anyone with concerns about drug dealing within their community to keep reporting suspicious activity to us as we will act on the information.”

*A second man charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs has denied the offences and is due to stand trial at Northampton Crown Court later this year.
