A 21-year-old man has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
At about 2.20pm on Friday, July 12, Flamur Lamaj, of no fixed abode, was stopped by Op Revive officers in The Headlands, Northampton, in his silver Mazda.
He was searched under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act and inside his vehicle, a green chewing gum tub was opened and found to contain individual bags of Class A drugs.
Lamaj was arrested but decided to give officers the fake name of Salvadore Rossi before officers were able to establish his real name when he arrived in custody.
A mobile phone in his possession was also found to contact nearly 80 messages and photographs that showed evidence of Lamaj being involved in street dealing.
He was subsequently charged with one count of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and one count of driving without insurance.
After pleading guilty to the offences at Northampton Crown Court, he was sentenced last week (August 23) to one year and two months in prison.
Lead Investigator - PC Brandham of Operation Revive West said: “Our team takes a zero-tolerance approach to drug dealing in Northampton and we want to put as many people who deal Class A drugs behind bars.
“People often think that drug dealing is a victimless crime but there are so many vulnerable people lower down the chain that are exploited by the people at the top, and that’s something we cannot accept.
“That’s why we won’t stop working hard as part of Op Revive and we would encourage anyone with any concerns about drug dealing in their local area to contact us.”
Operation Revive is the Force’s hard-hitting enforcement campaign, led by our Neighbourhood Policing Teams, which focuses on bringing the offenders of serious violence associated with Class A drug dealing and gangs to justice.
