A 23-year-old man has been jailed by officers working on the Force’s hard-hitting drugs operation - Op Revive.
Zacharia Dayib, previously of Northampton, was arrested following an incident in Northampton town centre on March 7, 2024.
The incident happened at about 9pm when police officers working on Op Revive were patrolling the area in an unmarked vehicle and stopped Dayib’s gold SEAT Ibiza as it entered Kettering Road, near to the St Michael’s Road junction.
Dayib ran from the vehicle however was detained a short time later by officers on foot and arrested.
A subsequent search of his car and home address in Bellinge uncovered more than 170 wraps of Class A drugs, namely heroin and crack cocaine.
Dayib was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property, both of which he pleaded guilty to at Northampton Crown Court in May.
He was sentenced at the same court last month (August 27) to three years and four months in prison.
Op Revive West Sergeant Scott Garbett said: “I am really pleased that we have jailed yet another drug dealer and I hope Zacharia Dayib spends his time behind bars making plans to earn money legally when he is released.
“Tackling drug harm is a matter of priority for this Force which is why Operation Revive was set up. Through this operation, we aim to bring those who sell drugs to justice – from street level dealers to those running organised crime groups.
“We will continue working hard to bring more people like Dayib to justice.”
Operation Revive is the Force’s hard-hitting enforcement campaign, led by the Neighbourhood Policing Teams, which focuses on bringing the offenders of serious violence associated with Class A drug dealing and gangs to justice.
If you have concerns about drug dealing, or someone becoming drawn into gang culture, please report it to us on 101, online at www.northants.police.uk/ro or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
