A 43-year-old man who burgled two properties in Northampton has been jailed for three years.
Jermaine Lewis, previously of Northampton, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and four counts of fraud by false representation at Northampton Crown Court in September.
On the night of June 16 this year, Lewis gained entry to a property in Chapel Green and once inside, he rifled through the cupboards and stole one of the occupant’s bank cards which he then used fraudulently in nearby shops.
Then, in the early hours of July 11, Lewis entered a property in Witham Walk and once inside, stole items, including bank cards, which were then also used fraudulently.
After pleading guilty to the offences at an earlier hearing, Lewis returned to Northampton Crown Court this month (October 16) where he was sentenced to three years in prison.
Lead investigator - PC Chris Perkins from the Force’s Burglary Team said: “People often underestimate how violating it can feel to know that someone has been inside your home with the sole intent of stealing your property.
“We don’t underestimate how much a crime such as this can affect someone which is why we will always do everything we can to bring the offenders to justice.
“That’s exactly what we have done here with Jermaine Lewis and we will continue working hard to put more people like him behind bars.”
