A 37-year-old man has been jailed for one year and six months after he used stolen bank cards to purchase a variety of items.
The bank cards in question were stolen during a burglary in the Northampton area on March 5 by Igor Dorin, previously of Crow Lane, Northampton, who fraudulently used them immediately after the burglary in a number of shops.
Transactions included purchases of cigarettes and goods from betting shops and off licences.
Dorin was arrested in connection with the burglary and subsequent fraudulent transactions and was charged with one count of burglary and eight counts of fraud by false representation.
After pleading guilty to the offences at Northampton Crown Court on June 21, he was sentenced to one year and six months in prison.
Lead investigator - Police Constable Christina Cooper said: “I’m really pleased with this sentence because it sends a clear message that anyone looking to profit from burglary in Northamptonshire will be robustly brought to justice.
“I hope Igor Dorin reflects on the poor choices he has made that have led to this prison sentence and he uses the time to contemplate the impact his actions have had on the victim of his crime. I hope when he is released he decides to make better choices.”
