Man, 32, jailed for knifepoint robbery

A 32-year-old man has been jailed after he committed a knifepoint robbery in Saxby. 

On the afternoon of January 14, 2024, a man had arranged to meet Connor Campion, previously of Corby, in Saxby Road, Saxby, to sell him a motorbike.

The sale of the yellow and black Suzuki had been arranged on Facebook Marketplace.

When Campion arrived, he was wearing a face mask and told the seller his name was John. He then stated that the bike was his and had been stolen a couple of weeks ago.

When the seller disputed this by telling Campion that he had owned the motorbike for years, Campion became aggressive, pulling out a knife and making threats.

He then made off a short time later without the bike.

Police officers were called, and Campion was identified as the suspect and arrested a short time later. He was subsequently charged with one count of robbery and one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

After pleading guilty to the offences at Northampton Crown Court, Campion was sentenced on July 9 to four years and 18 weeks in prison.

Lead investigator Detective Constable Neil Carr said: “Tackling serious violence is a priority for Northamptonshire Police and I hope that the way we handled this case reassures the public that our force takes a zero-tolerance approach to this kind of behaviour.

“This was a terrifying incident for the victim in this case who believed Campion was a legitimate buyer of the motorcycle in question.

“I hope the conclusion of the case and the jail time handed out to Campion gives this man some closure and I’d like to thank him for his support during our investigation.”
