Man, 40, sentenced for Class A drugs offences

A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison for Class A drugs offences.

On December 14, 2023, police officers making enquiries for an unrelated incident in Pilton Close, Northampton, noticed a man wearing a full-face balaclava.

The man was Jae Dean Franklin, previously of Northampton, and when he spotted officers, he ran.

A foot chase ensued, and Franklin was caught in Crowthorp Road and arrested.

As he sat in the back of the vehicle, he claimed to have taken an overdose, so officers conveyed him to Northampton General Hospital.

It was there that a container fell out from the bottom of his trousers and spilled open, revealing multiple wraps of Class A drugs.

Following a subsequent search, he was found to have a further container concealed on his person which had more class A wraps inside it.

He was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, pleading guilty to both offences at Northampton Crown Court earlier this year.

Franklin was later sentenced at the same court last month (July 11) to two years in prison.

Operation Revive Sergeant Scott Garbett said: “I am pleased to see Jae Franklin brought to justice and I hope this case demonstrates the seriousness with which the police and the courts take drug dealing.

“Tackling drug harm is a matter of priority for this Force which is why Operation Revive was set up. Through this operation, we aim to bring those who sell drugs to justice – from street level dealers to those running organised crime groups.

“We will continue working hard to bring more people like Franklin to justice.”

Operation Revive is the Force’s hard-hitting enforcement campaign which focuses on bringing the offenders of serious violence associated with Class A drug dealing and gangs to justice.

If you have concerns about drug dealing, or someone becoming drawn into gang culture, please report it to us on 101, online at www.northants.police.uk/ro or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
