A 42-year-old man has been convicted of three offences following incidents earlier this month.
In the early hours of Saturday, April 6, Lee Robins, of St Paul’s Road, Northampton, broke into a Mazda car in Barrack Road and stole coins. He also broke into a Mercedes car in Stanley Street on the same night and stole a wallet.
A member of the public witnessed what Robins had done and called police, leading to officers arriving and arresting him.
Upon a search, he was found to be in possession of cocaine.
Robins was charged with one count of theft from a motor vehicle, one count of theft by finding, and one count of possession of Class A drugs, pleading guilty to all three offences at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 8.
He was granted unconditional bail by the court until sentencing which will happen on May 16, 2024.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Nicola Davis-Lyons said: “Lee Robins is a prolific offender and I am pleased that with the help of the public we have brought him before the courts for his latest set of crimes.
“We will continue working hard to tackle crime in our local neighbourhood and I would encourage anyone with any information about suspicious activity in their area to contact us.”
