A 33-year-old man has been jailed for five years and one month for his part in a stabbing which took place in Harrington Road, Desborough.
On the morning of November 6, 2020, Patrick Jimmy Gavin was with 29-year-old Matthew Lee when they used separate cars to follow another vehicle and box the driver in.
The 42-year-old victim was then attacked with a knife and a spade, suffering a stab wound to the arm. Thankfully, he has now fully recovered from his injuries.
Matthew Lee was sentenced to five years and six months in prison in February 2021, however Gavin went to ground, avoiding police for two years before he was finally arrested.
At his first hearing at Northampton Crown Court on Thursday, November 10, he pleaded guilty to the offence of Section 18 - wounding with intent under joint enterprise, and was sentenced the following day to five years and one month in prison.
Lead Investigator – Detective Sergeant Rob Johnson, said: “Patrick Gavin thought he had gotten away with this crime but we are always watching and waiting and this case is a great demonstration of our determination to secure justice, no matter how much time has passed.
“The victim in this case was subjected to a terrifying experience at the hands of Gavin and Matthew Lee and I hope he feels a sense of closure that both of his attackers are now behind bars.
“Tackling serious violence is a matter of priority for Northamptonshire Police and we will continue working hard to bring the offenders of these crimes to justice.”
