Boat set on fire at the Grand Union Canal in Rothersthorpe

Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a tugboat was set on fire on the Grand Union Canal in Rothersthorpe.

The incident happened between 5pm on Wednesday, September 4, and 9.30am on Thursday, September 5, when a tugboat moored between locks 6-7 Northampton Arm was deliberately set on fire, causing damage which will cost more than £100,000 to repair.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
