Request to Northamptonshire Police
Could you please provide data on:
a.) how many people applied to join the force
b.) how many of these applications were successful
For each of the following years: 2024, 2019, 2014.
Could you please also break down the figures month by month?
To clarify, this request relates only to police officers, and not to police staff.
Response
Please be advised that due to a change in systems, we are unable to provide all of the information requested, such as total number of Police Officers successfully recruited in 2014.
The record retention period for unsuccessful applications is twelve months, so we would not be able to trace data beyond that timeframe. However, using current service records we have been able to locate some of the information as follows below.
There are 37 Police Officers currently serving who successfully applied to work for Northamptonshire Police in 2014 (correct as February 2025).
There were 131 Police Officers successfully recruited to work for Northamptonshire Police in 2019.
There were 91 Police Officers successfully recruited to work for Northamptonshire Police in 2024.
Please also note that Police Officer job advertisements are published approximately eight months prior to the start date of the role. It is therefore not possible to accurately advise the rate of applications received per month for 2024. However, we can confirm that across the year, 668 applications were received in total.
