FOI 4326-25 Sexual Assaults and Rapes at Hospitals since 2022

Request to Northamptonshire Police

Question 1 - How many reports have been made to the force of sexual assaults which are alleged to have taken place at hospitals in the Northamptonshire Police area since January 1st 2022?

Question 2 - How many reports have been made to the force of rape which are alleged to have taken place at hospitals in the Northamptonshire Police area since January 1st 2022?

Question 3 - How many of the above points 1 and 2 were reported to have taken place in a location described as a ‘hospital ward’?

Question 4 - How many people have been charged with sexual assault/rape regarding points 1 and 2 above?

Response

Question 1
Since January 2022, Northamptonshire Police recorded 54 alleged sexual assaults having taken place on hospital premises.

Question 2
Since January 2022, Northamptonshire Police recorded 8 alleged rapes having taken place on hospital premises.

Question 3
Since January 2022, Northamptonshire Police recorded 31 alleged sexual assaults and rapes having taken place on hospital wards. Please note, we have included Accident and Emergency to be a ward.

Question 4
Since January 2022, Northamptonshire Police has charged 3 people contrary to the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for offences alleged to have taken place on hospital premises.
