Request to Northamptonshire Police

Please detail the number of laptops, tablets and phones reported lost or stolen by DEPRATMENT, as well as the average cost per device.

Please provide this information from November to October for the past three years (including this year).

E.g.
November 2024 - October 2025:
· Laptops - 94 reported as lost or stolen | average cost of £790
· Tablets - 8 reported as lost or stolen | average cost of £375
· Phones - 55 reported as lost or stolen | average cost of £317

Unfortunately, Northamptonshire Police are unable to provide you with the information requested because it is not held in an easily retrievable format. Compliance with your request would require our analysts to manually review 93 occurrences across the specified period to establish what department the staff member belonged to at the time the device was lost/stolen.

We estimate this would take approximately 15 minutes per record, exceeding the appropriate cost limit of £450 which engages an exemption under s12(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act).

Accordingly, please accept this Refusal Notice under s17(1) of the Act.

However, we have decided to provide with you the table below in a bid to be as helpful as we can.
