Please may I request information relating to illegally modified battery-powered pedal cycles (e-bikes):
- 1. Can you please provide details of the number of illegally modified e-bikes seized by police over the last three years (stats for 2023, 2024 and 2025 so far)
- 2. Can you please identify the highest speed (in mph) the force has ever recorded for a person riding an illegally modified e-bike.
- 3. Can you please provide details of where/when (on which road) the highest speed was recorded
- 4. The age of the rider who recorded the highest speed
Search for all occurrences that include the words 'E-BIKE', 'E BIKE', 'ELECTRIC-BIKE', 'ELECTRIC BIKE' 'MODIFIED' and 'ADAPTED' within the MO text, manually reviewed for any that relate to seizure of illegally modified e-bikes between 2023 and 2nd October 2025.
As with any keyword search, the search will only return exact matches within the Incident Description or Crime MO. This does not account for differences in terminology and/or spelling used. Keyword searches are problematic and in no way provide accurate results or figures. If the selected key words have not been mentioned, the data will not be returned.
