1. Are all your police officers who attend domestic abuse incidents (crime scenes) trained about coercive control?
2. What training courses that police officers are mandated to attend is coercive control covered in?
3. Pets can be killed, harmed or threatened within domestic abuse and are often barriers for survivors leaving an abusive relationship. Does all of your coercive control training consider this aspect?
1. Yes
2. All student Police officers complete Domestic abuse training which includes the offence of Coercive and Controlling behaviour and identifying the signs. There is currently a one day training course which specifically focuses on Coercive Control provided to all front line Police Officers. There is also mandatory College of Policing online training.
3. All officers are trained in completing domestic risk assessment forms which covers this.
