FOI 2517-25 Attempted murder and murder cases

Request:

I’m looking into the numbers of crimes involving knives, specifically from knife retailer DNA Leisure, their wholesaler Sporting Wholesale, and their knives brand Anglo Arms.

Please can you tell me the following:

Q1: For the years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 how many attempted murder or murder cases have been logged by your force where a bladed article purchased from ‘DNA Leisure’ was recorded as an element of the case?

Q2: For the years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 how many attempted murder or murder cases have been logged by your force where a bladed article manufactured by ‘Sporting Wholesale’ was recorded as an element of the case?

Q3: For the years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 how many attempted murder or murder cases have been logged by your force where a bladed article belonging to the knife brand Anglo Arms was recorded as an element of the case?

Response:

Northamptonshire Police systems are designed primarily for the management of individual cases and not for the production of statistical information for Freedom Of Information responses.

Please note, due to a change in crime recording systems, data can only be provided from March 2016.

Crime searched for all Murder/Attempt Murder with a keyword search for ‘DNA Leisure’, ‘Sporting Wholesale’ and ‘Anglo Arms’. This produced a nil return.

As with any keyword search, the search will only return exact matches. This does not account for differences in terminology and/or spelling used. Keyword searches are problematic and in no way provide accurate results or figures. If the selected key words have not been mentioned the data will not be returned. There is no mandatory field for retailer/wholesaler.
