1. a) The total amount of reported stalking crimes under the codes HOCR codes of 008/65 and 008/66 for each year from 2017 to 2024 split by:

Crimes searched for Home Office Stats Classification Codes 008/65 and 008/66 between 01/01/2017 and 31/12/2024.
Crime recording standards changed in April 2020 and all intimate/ex-intimate harassment is now classified as stalking (DA).
Please note, some occurrences have more than 1 victim/ suspect and some victims/ suspects were involved in more than 1 occurrence.

This is an absolute exemption
Please be advised that any information released as a result of a Freedom of Information request, in effect, is being released into the public domain. Therefore, it could subsequently be published or would have to be made available to any member of the public if it were requested. Any information that relates to an individual, or from which an individual could be identified, constitutes personal data and to release information that constitutes personal data into the public domain contravenes the Data Protection Act 2018. Personal data is defined under the Data Protection Act as data that is biographical in nature, has the applicant as its focus and/or affects the data subject’s privacy in his or her personal, professional or business life.
Principle a of Article 5(1) states that information must be processed fairly, lawfully and in a transparent manner. In this case the individuals would have a reasonable expectation that information would not be processed if it resulted in their identification, or equally led an individual to be wrongfully identified as a consequence. Disclosures which appear harmless, pieced together with other disclosures can be used in a ‘mosaic effect’ to third parties who may have access to additional information that would enable them to link the requested information to an individual.
In accordance with the Act, this letter represents a Refusal Notice for this part of the request.
