Victim right to review

You can request a review for someone else online by clicking 'Start' below.

Please ensure you have read the guidance notes before making your request.

What we'll ask you for:

Your details:

• your full name
• how you would like us to contact you (by phone, post or email)
• a contact phone number and/or email address
• your full address and postcode
• confirmation that you have permission to act on the victim's behalf

Victim details:

• the victim’s full name, address and date of birth
• how they would like to be contacted
• their contact phone number and/or email address
• your relationship to them

Request details:

• the reason for requesting a review
• the date the original crime happened
• the date the victim was advised of the decision
• any reference they have been given (eg crime reference number)
• the officer that dealt with the case (if known)

What happens next

You should receive an acknowledgement of your request within 10 working days

Where possible, a review will be completed and a decision communicated within 30 working days of the date you submit your request.

In all cases where it is not possible to provide a VRR decision within the usual timeframes, for example in more complex cases, you will be notified accordingly. 

How long it takes to complete this form

The form will take about 20 minutes to complete and you won't be able to save your request and come back to it, so it will need to be done in one sitting.
