The northbound M1 in Northamptonshire has just been re-opened following a major collision involving several vehicles at the start of this evening's rush hour.
The motorway was closed at junction 15A following the collision, which happened shortly before 4.30pm today (Wednesday, December 6), about three-quarters of a mile south of junction 16, under the Rothersthorpe bridge
At least six vehicles involved including a number of cars, a lorry and a van.
A number of ambulances are also at the scene treating the injured, some of whom are children.
One of the casualties has been conveyed to the Birmingham Children's Hospital for treatment and at least three more to Northampton General Hospital.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Highways Agency were also involved in the operation which saw the motorway finally re-opened shortly before 7.30pm
