Former Special Constable Lloyd Fairey recognised in the New Year Honours

A former Special Constable with Northamptonshire Police has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year Honours list.

Lloyd Fairey received the reward in recognition of his services to the Special Constabulary in Northampton and to the community he served in Wootton Fields.

Northampton-born Lloyd left the Force earlier this year after 31 years and was a well-known figure in his local community, often seen engaging with the public outside the Waitrose store in Wootton or out and about on his pushbike with which he completed his last shift six months ago.

Friends said Lloyd was "absolutely delighted" with the honour, especially as the nomination for it had come from a member of the community he served for so many years.

Chief Constable Simon Edens said: "Lloyd served our Special Constabulary for more than 30 years and everyone at Northamptonshire Police will be so pleased that his dedication and commitment has been recognised by this well-deserved award."
