Business Continuity Management (BCM)
Back Back   Print Print page

Northamptonshire Police are working in partnership with the Northamptonshire Resilience Forum to look at how resilience within Northamptonshire can be exercised in a cost effective and efficient manner.

Working together to uphold the Civil Contingency Act 2004, we are looking to work with our key suppliers to ensure resilience is imbedded into our business practice.

Looking at BCM in a simplistic view, it is a plan to maintain a predetermined level of services or the supply of products if one or more of the following fails -

  1. Loss of people
  2. Loss of facilities including premises
  3. Loss of IT/communications
  4. Loss of suppliers

Northamptonshire Police Procurement would like to work with Suppliers present and future to ensure we comply and exceed where necessary BS 25999. BS 25999, the world's first British standard for business continuity management (BCM), has been developed to help suppliers minimize the risk of disruption to their business. By helping to put the fundamentals of a BCM system in place, the standard is designed to keep a suppliers business going during the most challenging and unexpected circumstances – protecting staff, preserving a suppliers reputation and providing the ability to continue to operate and trade.
