Karoly Varga murder investigation: Operation Polecat

Karoly VargaOperation Polecat is the police investigation into the murder of 76-year-old Karoly Varga, at his home in Cannon Street, Wellingborough, on Wednesday 27 July 2011.

A £10,000 reward has been offered by the family of Karoly 'Charlie' Varga for information leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of the murderer, after the case against Mr Elemer Patakfalvi, 47 was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Mr Varga was discovered dead at his home in Cannon Street on Saturday 30 July 2011, by officers shortly after midday following a call by a concerned relative because she was unable to make contact with him.

A post mortem confirmed that Mr Varga died from head injuries inflicted with a hatchet type weapon.

Officers are keen to speak with witnesses or anyone with any information that could help catch the murderer. This page provides further details that have been released on the murder investigation.
