There are a number of hoax emails in circulation that allegedly promote safety advice given by Northamptonshire Police.
These are chain emails and hopefully, the exaggerated contents are a clue to that fact - even though the hoaxers attribute the information to a genuine source.
Any important advice and information will have been made available through an official or trustworthy route, so checking an organisation’s website or local news outlets should help in deciding if something is genuine.
As with chain letters, the best advice is NOT to forward chain emails and spread the misinformation more widely but simply delete them.
