Officers are attending a serious road traffic collison on the M1, southbound between junction 16 and 17.
A number of vehicles are involved which has caused all three lanes to be blocked.
The motorway will be closed between junction 16 and 18 for a period of time.
Motorists are asked to take alternative routes if possible.
