Officers from the Wellingborough Safer Community Team will be carrying out parking patrols and delivering talks on personal safety next week, as part of a special ‘week of action’ involving local schools.

PCSO Chris Howard, the SCT’s schools liaison officer, has planned for officers to spend a day at four schools in the area. He said:

“We’ll be starting and finishing the day at each school carrying out parking patrols, to give advice and encourage parents to park considerately and legally when they bring and collect their children from school.

“Our interactive lunchtime sessions are a key part of the day, when officers and colleagues from partner agencies, such as Wellingborough Homes, NORSE and Women’s Aid will be on hand to talk to pupils about a range of different issues.

“They’ll be able to talk to us about any matters that concern them and we’ll also be asking them to give us their views about local policing and council matters. Then, towards the end of the day, we’ll be giving talks on personal safety, which will be open to both students and staff.”

“We already have close links with the schools on our area and this is a great opportunity for our officers to spend time in each school, meeting and talking to the students and finding out more about the issues that concern them.”

During the week, officers will be at the following schools:

 Monday 19 November: Sir Christopher Hatton Academy – parking patrols, interactive lunchtime session and personal safety talks
 Tuesday 20 November: Wrenn School – parking patrols, interactive lunchtime session and personal safety talks
 Wednesday 21 November: parking patrols at Our Lady’s School and lunchtime careers session at Wrenn School
 Thursday 22 November: Weavers School – parking patrols, interactive lunchtime session and personal safety talks

On Friday 23 November, they will be carrying out parking patrols at the Diamond Learning Community in Oakway and St Barnabas School.
