A 42-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the discovery of a man's body alongside the A45 in Northampton yesterday morning, Thursday 12 July.

The 42-year-old was arrested yesterday evening and remains in custody where he is being interviewed by officers from the Force's Collision Investigation Team.

A Home Office Pathologist carried out a forensic post mortem last night and has concluded that the 39-year-old man died as a result of injuries consistant with having been involved in a road traffic collision.

We are still not in a position to name the man who died, however we can confirm he was from Irchester.

Officers would like to thank those members of the public who have come forward since the discovery of the man's body.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have been driving along the A45 from the M1 at junction 15, towards the Queen Eleanor roundabout at 4am yesterday morning

They would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have seen a white Land Rover with trailer, parked at the side of the road.

Anyone with any information about this incident, or who may have witnessed it, is asked to contact the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615.
